hi, i’m isabel

Isabel Hansen is a recent graduate from University of British Columbia (UBC), consistently ranked as a top 40 global institution, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A) in Performance. She signed with The Character’s Talent Agency three months after graduation and has been an active member of the Vancouver indie film scene ever since.

Some recent credits include “Sasha,” in Brian Daniel Johnson’s feature film This Year, “The Projectionist,” in Bay Tamboury’s horror short In Defense of Movie Theaters, “Gloria,” in Kate Henderson’s Flightless Runs in the Family (2023 RNG Fest - Audience Choice Award) and “Joanne,” in Emmi Tsiapalis's third-year thesis film Virgin which premiered at the 2023 Portugual FEST Film Festival.

Isabel's experience extends beyond her on-screen roles. She's had the privilege of serving as a production assistant for two highly acclaimed directors' feature films. This includes the romantic comedy Faking It co-written and directed by Ava Maria Safai, as well as the indie crime drama The China Town Diner written and directed by Lawrence Le Lam. Furthermore, she took on the role of assistant production coordinator for the award-winning 2023 Run 'n Gun Short "Six, Afraid of Seven," which was also co-written and directed by Safai

When Isabel is not acting, she can be found scribbling in her notebook, often working on several story ideas at once. She is a 2022 graduate of SFBATCO’s Creators Lab, a focused 5-week playwrighting residency for Bay Area theatre artists, and is currently working alongside acclaimed Canadian playwright Tetsuro Shigematsu, through the Arts Club incubator series LEAP (Learning Early About Playwrighting).

She is the proud recipient of the Joy Coghill award, two Govenor’s Medallions, and a first-place fridge magnet from the Vancouver Story Slam (October 2023).
